Ganta City, Nimba county….The Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Jeremiah Kpan Koung, has extended appreciation to the people of Nimba County for overwhelmingly voting for Honorable Samuel Kogar as Senator, replacing Hon. Prince Johnson.
Speaking on the famous RKFM Breakfast show this morning, Vice President Koung stated that the decision of Nimbaians clearly demonstrates their understanding of and support for tribal political balance in the county.
He acknowledged the citizens of Sanniquellie, Saclepea, Tappita, Gbehlay-Geh, Yahwin-Mehnsonnoh, and Zoe-Geh statutory districts for their cooperation, noting that they heeded the call of the county’s leaders.
VP Koung emphasized that elections can be compared to a soccer game—it lasts for a maximum of ninety minutes. He stressed that after the game, the result is accepted, and people should continue to coexist peacefully.
The Vice President also mentioned that his support for Kogar in the just-ended senatorial election was intended to uphold the county’s long-standing tradition of ensuring that one tribal group does not occupy multiple key positions in Nimba.
