MONROVIA – Former Chief of Protocol Nora Finda Bundoo is spending her first night at the Monrovia Central Prison after Criminal Court “C” Judge Ousman Feika rejected the criminal appearance bonds filed on her behalf, ruling that they were insufficient, and set her bail at US$8 million.
The decision followed a court hearing on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, during which the court determined that the bonds submitted by Bundoo’s legal team did not meet the legal requirements necessary for her temporary release pending trial. As a result, the judge ordered that she be remanded to the Monrovia Central Prison until she files a bond acceptable to the court.
Before the ruling, Bundoo addressed the court and expressed gratitude to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah for what she described as their support during one of the most difficult periods of her life. She said the two leaders had stood by her while many others she had trusted abandoned her.
According to Bundoo, people she once considered close allies had turned against her and wanted to see her imprisoned. Her emotional remarks came moments before the court announced its decision denying the appearance bonds filed on her behalf.
Bundoo is facing multiple criminal charges, including money laundering, theft of property, misuse of public money, criminal conspiracy, and criminal facilitation. The charges stem from a November 2025 indictment returned by the Montserrado County Grand Jury.
The prosecution alleges that the former Chief of Protocol was involved in financial crimes related to the handling of public funds. However, Bundoo has not been convicted, and the case is expected to proceed through the judicial process.
With the court rejecting her initial bonds, Bundoo will remain in custody at the Monrovia Central Prison until her lawyers submit a criminal appearance bond that satisfies the court’s requirements and is approved by the judge.
The case is expected to return to court as the legal proceedings continue.
