ArcelorMittal Liberia, an iron ore mining company has officially broken ground for the rehabilitation of a 28-kilometer road in Margibi County.

Making a brief remark at the groundbreaking site on behalf of the AML’, Mr. Jallah Seimah Mine Manager, disclosed that project, which commenced today, is a direct result of Representative Attoh-Wreh’s strong advocacy and sustained engagement with the company’s management.

Jallah placed the total cost of said project at US$ 5,270 and emphasized the company’s commitment to fully rehabilitating the road, including the construction of all necessary drainage systems.

He noted that the road contract is being awarded to Frebenja Group of Companies, a local road construction company based in District #2, Margibi County. At the same time, Mr. Seimah used the occasion to call on residents of Kakata and surrounding communities to take ownership of the project and support it in any way possible.

Mr. Seimah pointed out that the 28 kilometers road rehabilitation will last for two consecutive months and will affect the road leading from C.H. Rennie Junction in Kakata to the Firestone Staff Club, a key stretch that will significantly reduce transportation challenges for community residents

For her part, Representative Ellen A. Attoh-Wreh expressed gratitude to ArcelorMittal for honoring its commitment. She noted that since initiating talks with the company to undertake the road rehabilitation, the engagements have been positive, especially during the procurement of materials and equipment.

She explained that the company normally use the riot to commute from Buchanan to Nimba Counties with gigantic earth moving equipment and usually caused huge damages on the roads during the rainy season.

However, Representative Wreh lavished praises on the company for living up to its commitment, noting it is not only AML that use the road but though of honoring her request.
