[Monrovia, Liberia-In a spirited gathering at the African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU), the Senior Class Aspirants of the United Students Alliance officially launched their manifesto and fundraising campaign in anticipation of the upcoming 25th Student Governing Council (SGC) elections.

The event featured the aspirants for key leadership positions, including Lalia Fofana for Senior Class President, Mario Mickey Woheel for Vice President, Stephen Davies for Secretary General, and Matenu Grace Fofana for Financial Secretary. Alfred C. Johnson Junior Class President, Praise Lougan, Sophomore, and Sekou Aminata Konneh freshman Class President, showcasing a united front for student leadership.

Addressing members of her party, the atmosphere was charged with a rosing welcome as Lalia Fofana, Senior Class Presidential Aspirant, took to the podium to explain the team’s vision centered around fostering unity and enhancing the student experience at AMEU.

“Our singular quest is to lay the foundation for meaningful change that will create a legacy of opportunity, support, and growth for today’s students and those who will follow,” she declared.

She outlined a comprehensive manifesto built upon five key pillars:

Scholarship Aid Opportunities: Recognizing financial barriers that hinder students’ academic pursuits, the aspirants pledge to establish an Annual Scholarship Fund Event. This initiative aims to connect students with scholarship providers through partnerships with local and international organizations as well as AMEU alumni.

Job Internship Programs: In response to Liberia’s pressing unemployment challenges, the aspirants are committed to creating internship opportunities that bridge the gap between education and employment. By collaborating with NGOs, government agencies, and private institutions, they aim to provide students with real-world experience essential for navigating the job market.

-Inter-departmental University Networking and Recreational Activities: The manifesto emphasizes the importance of collaboration beyond academics. The aspirants plan to host departmental events and inter-university networking activities that foster relationships among students from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, they intend to organize recreational activities to promote social interaction and community building.

Senior Class Legacy Project: Acknowledging the significance of their graduating class, the aspirants propose a collaborative project that embodies their shared values and contributions to AMEU. This initiative could take various forms, such as establishing a scholarship fund or mentorship program, leaving a lasting impact on future generations of students.

Timely and Quality Souvenir Package: Understanding the importance of commemorating their time at AMEU, the aspirants promise to deliver high-quality souvenir packages for graduating students. These packages will serve as a tangible reminder of their academic journey and achievements.

Additionally, she concluded her presentation by emphasizing that these pillars are not mere campaign promises but commitments rooted in their dedication to serve and uplift their peers. She expressed her intention to engage further with the student body through interactive forums and informational brochures to solidify support for their vision.

She called on her fellow students to unite in this endeavor. “Together, we can innovate, integrate, and inspire an enduring legacy for our class,” she urged.
