Montserrado County: Senator Abraham Darius Dillon has called on students groupings in Liberia especially the Students Unification Party (SUP) to actively focus on scrutinizing the national budget, especially allocations made to government ministries and agencies.
Dillon explained that students should go beyond chanting political slogans or battle cries and responsibly engage the government on key budgetary issues, to ensure transperancy and accountability in in public resource management.
The Montserrado County Senator admonished elites of campus-based politics to actively nurture their colleagues through various means such as, publicly revieng the budget lines so as to increase public awareness and influenced decisions making.
“I’m calling on the Students Unification Party, PROSA, and other student groups to kindly look into the budget. Let them take the budget to the Palava hut and argue over allotments,” he noted.
In a related development, Senator Dillon also commended Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, for what he described as exceptional leadership. He awarded her an “A” grade for spearheading efforts that secured Liberia a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council, noting her remarkable contributions.
“Madam Sara Beysolow is doing extremely well. She and her team have done incredibly well and deserve to be recognized,” Sen. Dillon added.
