Harper, Maryland County – The Student Unification Alliance (SUA) at Tubman University has criticized the university administration over the suspension of 14 students and a ban on student politics, calling the actions unjust and undemocratic.
In a press statement released on Tuesday, December 5, 2024, SUA accused the administration of targeting student leaders who are actively involved in campus organizations. The alliance claims the suspensions were carried out without proper justification, describing the move as an attempt to suppress political engagement on campus.
The SUA has issued a 48-hour ultimatum, demanding the immediate reinstatement of the suspended students and the reversal of the ban on student politics. “The student body will not accept efforts to silence dissent and limit their ability to engage in meaningful political discourse,” the statement read.
The alliance warned that if their demands are not met by Monday, December 9, 2024, they will take unspecified actions that could disrupt the final examinations scheduled for that day.
Tubman University is yet to comment on the allegations or the ultimatum as tension grows between the administration and the student body.
