The House of Representatives has established a specialized committee to investigate Speaker J. Fonati Koffa amid various allegations, including corruption and violations of House rules. This decision was made during the eighth session of the 55th Legislature on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

During the session, disruptions occurred when a group led by Bong County Representatives J. Marvin Cole and Eugene Kollie attempted to storm the joint chamber, where the Majority Bloc was meeting. The group broke part of the door and deployed pepper spray, causing lawmakers to cough and sneeze.

Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah urged his colleagues to maintain focus and continue their work for the Liberian people. The formation of the investigative committee marks the beginning of a due process that will allow Speaker Koffa to respond to the six allegations against him.

The committee members are:

1. Representative Michael Thomas – Chairman

2. Representative Marie Johnson – Co-Chair

3. Representative Earnest Manseah – Member

4. Representative Austin Taylor – Member

5. Representative Mannah Bishop Johnson – Member

6. Representative Sam P. Jallah – Member

7. Representative Clarence Banks – Member

The committee is expected to deliver its findings and recommendations to the plenary within one week.

Additionally, an Ad Hoc Committee has been set up to investigate allegations of civil disorder involving Representatives Marvin Cole, Frank Saah Foko, Eugene Kollie, Edward Papay Flomo, and others. They were captured on video preventing Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah and other lawmakers from entering the chamber on a session day. This committee is also required to report back within a week.
