The Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary (LBTS) celebrated a landmark moment on Sunday, December 8, 2024, as the institution held its 42nd Commencement Convocation, a ceremony underscored by the theme of transformative leadership and faith-driven purpose.
His Excellency Deacon Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., Chairman of the LBTS Board of Trustees, addressing the graduating class of 2024 with a resounding call to action called on them to embrace education and faith as tools to inspire change and uplift society.
The occasion marked a historic milestone for LBTS, with the first-ever cohort of graduates from the seminary’s Master of Arts Degree Program receiving their degrees.
The program, launched in September 2022 under the stewardship of H.E. Kemayah and the Board of Trustees, represents a significant advancement in theological education in Liberia.
“Education is a powerful tool for transformation,” Kemayah declared. “It equips us to address the complex challenges we face today. As educated leaders, you carry the responsibility to be agents of change, confronting inequality, injustice, and despair with knowledge, empathy, and faith.”
The graduating class, comprising students who have undergone rigorous academic training and spiritual growth, was lauded as a beacon of hope and a testament to LBTS’s vision for advanced theological education.
In addition to celebrating the graduates’ achievements, the event featured several key announcements. H.E. Kemayah confirmed the reappointment of Rev. Dr. Momolu Armstrong Massaquoi as President of LBTS for a new five-year term.
The unanimous decision by the Board of Trustees reflects their confidence in his continued leadership of the seminary.
Gratitude was also extended to the commencement speaker, Rev. Dr. Patrick Fallah Taylor, Sr., for his inspiring address, and to the LBTS Alumni Association, especially the U.S. Chapter, for their unwavering support.
“This convocation is not only a celebration of your achievements but also a call to action,” Kemayah concluded. “Commit to being lifelong learners and advocates for education in your communities and beyond. Use your knowledge to transform lives and foster positive change.”
Meanwhile speaking on the theme: Facing the Future” the commencement speaker Rev. Dr Patrick Fallah Taylor urged the graduates to know, value and utilize what they have if they must succeed in life.
