Monrovia, Liberia – December 5, 2024: The Office of the Vice President of Liberia has firmly dismissed allegations of bribery and financial misconduct against Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, Sr., labeling the claims as politically motivated and baseless.

In a statement issued on Thursday, December 5, 2024, the Vice President’s office categorically denied accusations that Koung instructed any improper payments, emphasizing his lack of authority to direct government institutions on public expenditures.

“There is no truth to the allegation that the Vice President instructed any payments for any reason,” the statement read.

Clarifying his constitutional duties, the statement noted that Vice President Koung’s responsibilities are limited to assisting the President and presiding over the Senate. The Office described the allegations as a calculated attempt to distract the administration from addressing pressing national issues.

Calling for public focus on Liberia’s challenges, the statement urged collective action to tackle the nation’s problems. Vice President Koung reaffirmed his commitment to serving with integrity and upholding democratic values.
