Ganta City, Nimba county……The Vice President of Liberia, His Excellency Jeremiah Kpan Koung, and owner of the E&J Medical Hospital in Ganta, has reacted to the recent incident involving the former Chief Medical Officer of E&J, Dr. Peter Matthew George, and the Liberia Medical and Dental Association (LMDA).

The Vice President clarified that the medical credentials of Dr. George was verified by the administration of Esther & Jereline (E&J) Hospital before he was hired as Chief Medical Director (CMD) in 2016.

Hon. Koung disclosed that prior to his employment at E&J, the now-revoked Dr. George served as Chief Medical Officer at the Cavalla Hospital in Maryland County.

He emphasized that before anyone can practice as a health worker in Liberia, they must obtain a license from the government through the Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC). According to Vice President Koung, Dr. George presented all relevant medical documents, including his license and medical degree from the government, during the vetting process conducted by the E&J administration.

He further mentioned that Dr. George’s appointment as Chief Medical Officer at Emirates Hospital in Gbarpolu County in 2020 was based on the documents he presented as his qualifications.

The Vice President added that Dr. George’s appointment as CMD in Gbarpolu later led to his elevation as President of the Liberia Medical and Dental Association (LMDA).
