Ganta, Nimba County — The Secretary General of the Unity Party Youth Congress in Nimba County, Printiss Domah, is calling on ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) to publish its compliance report before engaging in negotiations for the extension of its Mineral Development Agreement (MDA).

Domah emphasized that the public—including journalists, civil society organizations, social and political activists, and politicians—should have access to the compliance report.

This, he said, would allow for a thorough comparison between the commitments outlined in the MDA and the actual work carried out by AML in Nimba County.

Domah acknowledged that while the company has offered some opportunities to residents, these benefits are less in comparison to the resources ArcelorMittal has extracted from Liberia over the years.

He also voiced strong dissatisfaction with the company’s treatment of its workers, citing substandard housing conditions. According to Domah, many employees are still living in shipping containers, and the majority of the workforce comprises contract workers rather than full-time staff.
