Monrovia, January 4, 2025 – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has appointed Dr. Layli Maparyan as the 16th President of the University of Liberia. Her selection, endorsed by the University’s Board of Trustees, marks a historic moment for the institution.
Dr. Maparyan, a renowned academic and Executive Director of the Wellesley Centers for Women, brings extensive experience in higher education. She holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from Temple University and has served as a Fulbright Specialist at the University of Liberia in 2010.
Dr. Maparyan will officially assume her duties on January 10, 2025, following her induction. President Boakai expressed confidence in her leadership, emphasizing her ability to advance education and foster academic excellence in Liberia.
