The Government of Liberia is set to unveil its US 8.4 billion National Development Plan, a landmark initiative aimed at driving the nation’s growth and development over the next five years.

The disclosure was made on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, by the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan.

During the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism’s regular press briefing in Monrovia.

According to Minister Ngafuan, the ambitious development plan, covering all 15 counties, will officially launch on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

The event will be presided over by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and attended by international partners, government officials, business leaders, and community stakeholders.

“The National Development Plan is a strategic roadmap to ensure inclusive growth and development across Liberia,” said Minister Ngafuan.

“It represents a collective commitment to advancing the well-being of every citizen.”

The Finance Minister highlighted significant progress under President Boakai’s leadership, particularly in the energy sector.

He noted that access to electricity in Monrovia and surrounding areas has increased significantly due to substantial investments and international partnerships.

Minister Ngafuan also cited a recent visit by a World Bank delegation to Liberia’s hydroelectric power plant as evidence of the transformative potential of the country’s energy sector.

Emphasizing the need for unity, the Minister urged Liberians to prioritize narratives that foster national growth.

He encouraged the media to balance their reporting by showcasing both challenges and the nation’s accomplishments.

“We are not against reporting challenges, but let us also highlight the positive strides we are making as a nation,” he said.

“This is not about politics; it is about building a better Liberia for all.”

The launch of the US 8.4 billion National Development Plan is expected to set the foundation for inclusive economic growth and sustainable development, marking a significant milestone in Liberia’s journey toward progress.
