The Liberian Senate, through its Press Department, has officially announced that confirmation hearings for Chief Justice-Designate Yamie Q. Gbeisay will take place on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Senate Chambers.

The confirmation proceedings will be conducted by the Senate’s Statutory Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, Claims and Petitions.

Justice Gbeisay, currently serving as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia, is expected to appear before the Committee to outline his vision and respond to questions assessing his suitability for the position.

The confirmation follows a formal nomination by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, who named Justice Gbeisay to succeed Her Honor Sie-A-Nyene Yuoh. Justice Yuoh recently retired upon reaching the constitutional age limit of seventy, as mandated for serving as Chief Justice.

In a statement, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman, Senator Cllr. Augustine S. Chea, encouraged the public to follow the proceedings.

He emphasized that the Senate remains committed to transparency, impartiality, and independence in fulfilling its oversight and legislative duties.
