Liberian political commentator Henry Costa has predicted that a significant number of lawmakers from the 55th National Legislature will face U.S. sanctions for corruption on December 9, 2024. Speaking on a podcast Saturday evening, Costa claimed that credible sources within the U.S. Treasury Department indicated Washington’s decision to sanction numerous lawmakers involved in alleged widespread corruption and pay-for-play schemes.

Costa’s prediction follows reports that members of the majority bloc allegedly received $15,000 each to support the removal of House Speaker Fonati Koffa. He cautioned the public to expect a list of sanctioned representatives to be released by the U.S. Government on International Anti-Corruption Day.

Notably, Costa has previously served as a whistleblower, having announced anticipated sanctions against high-level officials during the CDC-led government. This history has led political analysts to take his recent claims seriously
