Monrovia-Liberia: The U.S. Embassy in Monrovia has concluded  a crucial awareness campaign through its Consular Section, focusing on the common failures associated with the Diversity Visa (DV) application process. 

This initiative aimed to Educate Potential applicants about the importance of honesty and accuracy in their submissions, as many have faced disqualification due to misleading information.

The campaign commenced on October 30, 2024, at the Duport Road Cow Field Community Intellectual Center (VOICES) and concluded with on November. 6, 2024, Quiah Intellectual Center Development, Logan Town.

During the session at the Quiah Intellectual Center for Development, delegates identified as: Ariem Starovoyt and Beernest Ruffin from the U.S. Embassy Visa Department, emphasized the significance of providing accurate information on applications. They noted that many applicants have been disqualified due to errors starting from dishonesty 

The US Embassy highlighted several critical points regarding the DV application process:

No Age Restrictions: There are no age limits for applicants; however, a high school diploma or its equivalent is mandatory.

Fraudulent Documents : Submitting fraudulent documents can lead to severe penalties, including being blacklisted by the Embassy under U.S. immigration laws.

Marital Status Accuracy: Applicants must accurately represent their marital status. If married, legal documentation must confirm this relationship; otherwise, it should not be included in the application.

Inclusion of Children: All biological children must be listed on applications, regardless of their location. Misrepresentation can lead to disqualification.

Caution Against Fraud: The embassy warned against using “Internet Cafés” for applications, as these establishments may create fraudulent accounts that complicate the process. Applicants are advised to use their own email accounts and carefully follow all application steps.

Application Fees Clarified: It was restated  that fees are only charged for interviews and not for submitting applications. Misunderstandings about this aspect can lead to financial losses for applicants.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy’s awareness seekto clarify misconceptions surrounding the Diversity Visa Lottery and encourage honest applications among Liberians. 

The slogan “You play, You Go” lights their message that success in this process stands on accurate representation of one’s qualifications and circumstances.

“As the deadline for DV-2026 applications approaches, potential applicants are urged to heed these guidelines to enhance their chances of success while avoiding common pitfalls that could jeopardize their applications.” Delegate stated.
