Maryland County, Senator J. Gbeh-Bo Brown has officially broken ground on the construction of a new elementary school in Gbiabo Taayetowiso.
The groundbreaking ceremony which took place on Saturday, January 4, 2025 brought together local government officials, community leaders, and residents of Gbiabo Taayetowiso Town.
Senator Brown, in his speech, emphasized the importance of education in shaping the future of Liberia’s youth and the need for continued investment in the country’s educational sector.
“This new school if completed will not only provide a safe and modern environment for our children to learn but will also serve as a catalyst for further development in the region,” Senator Brown noted.
According to him, he remains committed to ensuring that the people of Maryland County have access to the resources they need to succeed.
Commenting further, Sen. Brown said the construction of the school is part of a larger initiative to improve infrastructure and public services in rural parts of Liberia.
He presented 18 bundles of Zinc, over 200 parks of Zinc nails, among others materials to the people of Gbiabo Taayetowiso Town toward the construction of the elementary school during the groundbreaking ceremony.
Meanwhile, several residents have expressed their gratitude for the project, noting that access to education has long been a challenge for the area.
According to them the school will change everything for their children and they will have a place to learn close to home, and it will give them the opportunity to build a brighter future.
They both stated that the children of the said town are currently using a church building for learning activities, they noted that the construction of the elementary school will bring a great relief to them.
The groundbreaking ceremony also served as a reminder of the importance of collective efforts in addressing the educational needs of Liberia’s rural communities.
