Monrovia– The Liberia Basketball Association (LBA) and the Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA) will kick off a five-day training camp for over 30 young players and 30 coaches across Liberia starting this Monday, November 25, 2024.

The training, scheduled to run from November 25-30, will be conducted by renowned coaches from America and Africa.

Speaking on the significance of the event, LBA General Secretary Calvin Diggs highlighted the transformative impact the training camp will have on the future of basketball in Liberia. “This is an incredible opportunity for our young athletes and coaches to gain invaluable skills and insights from some of the best minds in basketball,” Diggs stated.

Diggs explained that the youth camp aims to foster the development of basketball talent at the grassroots level, providing participants with advanced training techniques and exposure to international standards of play.

He further revealed that the sessions will include drills, strategic workshops, and personal development programs designed to elevate the game of each participant.

“The goal of the camp is to create a pathway for our young players to excel, not just locally, but on an international stage,” Diggs continued. “By collaborating with FIBA and bringing in top coaches, we are ensuring that our athletes receive the highest quality of training available.”

In addition to player development, Diggs noted that thirty local basketball coaches will receive training alongside their international counterparts, fostering an environment of shared learning and professional growth. “Investing in our coaches is just as important as investing in our players,” Diggs remarked. “Their development is crucial for the sustained growth and success of basketball in Liberia.”
