In response to the feedback received against his decision to photography some officers of the highway patrol who were allegedly extorting Money from drivers, Police Inspector General (IG) Gregory Coleman has addressed the concerns surrounding the struggles faced by officers, particularly regarding their low salaries.

IG Coleman expressed his understanding of the difficulties faced by law enforcement officers and emphasized the urgent need for reforms within the Liberia National Police.

He assured the public that these challenges are being acknowledged and addressed, with a focus on improving the overall well-being of officers.

“We recognize the hard work and dedication of our officers who serve tirelessly to maintain law and order,” stated IG Coleman.

“However, it is clear that their struggles extend beyond just their salaries, and we are actively working on policies that will address these issues.”

These policies include advocating for fair and improved compensation, ensuring equitable working conditions, and establishing support systems to empower officers to perform their duties with professionalism and integrity.

IG Coleman also stressed the importance of accountability and the necessity for officers to maintain high ethical standards.

“While we work towards improving the conditions for our officers, it is crucial that they uphold the trust of the public.

Ethical conduct remains a cornerstone of our commitment to effective law enforcement.”

The Liberia National Police remains dedicated to fostering a police force that serves the people of Liberia with dignity, accountability, and respect.

Through these reforms, IG Coleman believes that positive change is achievable, paving the way for a more trustworthy and effective law enforcement institution.
