Stanton Witherspoon, former CEO of The Spoon Network and host of famous Liberian talk show “SPOON Talk” in Liberia, has expressed remorse and extended an open apology to those affected by his involvement in a wire fraud scheme known as Operation Nightingale.

The scheme, which created an illegal licensing shortcut for aspiring nurses, involved the sale of fraudulent nursing diplomas from accredited Florida-based schools.

The overall scheme involved the distribution of more than 7,600 fake nursing diplomas issued by three South Florida-based nursing schools: Siena College in Broward County, Florida (Fla.), Palm Beach School of Nursing in Palm Beach County, Fla., and Sacred Heart International Institute in Broward County.

He is one of 20 defendants that pleaded guilty in connection to the fraud.

Speaking on the program “The Plus” on Spoon FM on Monday in Monrovia, the former CEO explained that he had unknowingly, unintentionally, and without intention become involved in a syndicate aimed at defrauding and deceiving others. During the hearing of the case he reimbursed or restituted 3.5 million USD and an additional 8 million USD to the students.

Mr. Witherspoon use his radio appearance to appreciate all Liberians in and out of the Country , particularly stakeholders including ordinary citizens for their support and encouragement during his troubling times . He reiterated regret over the act committed
