The Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) has released the official schedule for the highly anticipated 2025 Monrovia Day Celebrations, which will take place from February 12 to 16, 2025.

This year’s theme, “The Monrovia We Want,” aims to highlight the city’s cultural heritage, promote civic engagement, and foster discussions on sustainable development.

Monrovia City Mayor John-Charuk Siafa emphasized the importance of community unity in shaping the capital’s future.

Celebrating Monrovia is an opportunity for us to come together as one community and actively contribute to the city’s growth for future generations,” Mayor Siafa stated.

The celebrations will commence with a grand Monrovia Day Parade at 7:00 AM, beginning at Randall and Broad Streets and concluding at Monrovia City Hall.

At 9:00 AM, President Joseph N. Boakai will officially launch Monrovia Week during a ceremony at City Hall.

Following the opening, the Monrovia Day Festival will run from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, featuring cultural performances, traditional cuisine, and historical reenactments that showcase the city’s heritage.

A high-level roundtable discussion will be held at 10:00 AM at Monrovia City Hall, bringing together business leaders, policymakers, and community stakeholders to explore sustainable development opportunities.

In a gesture of unity, an interfaith Muslim prayer service will take place at 9:00 AM at Benson Street Mosque, led by religious leaders seeking divine blessings for the city’s prosperity.

Vice President Jeremiah Koung, Freetown Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, and environmental advocates will also launch an environmental campaign, featuring a tree-planting event to promote sustainability and youth engagement.

Sports activities will be a key part of the festivities, with a multi-township tournament at Invincible Park, including a special disabled exhibition match at 12:00 noon.

The final day will begin with a Christian intercessory prayer service at Providence Baptist Church on Ashmun Street at 10:00 AM, followed by the grand conclusion—the Mayor’s Ball at Monrovia City Hall at 6:00 PM, an evening of music, networking, and recognition of the city’s progress.

The MCC is urging all residents and visitors to actively participate, reinforcing the message that building “The Monrovia We Want” requires unity, resilience, and collective commitment to progress.

Excitement is growing as Monrovians prepare for a week of cultural pride, meaningful dialogue, and forward-thinking initiatives.
