Rep. Robert Flomo Womba of Bong’s fourth electoral district has attributed his reluctancy of proffering a bill to political interplay by the former President, George Weah.

He attributed his previous reluctance to introduce legislation in the House of Representatives to the political rejection of a bill he once sponsored, which was vetoed by former President George Weah.

He explained that the bill aimed to grant township status to a town in his district, but it was politically dismissed by President Weah. This experience, he said, made him hesitant to propose further legislation assuming that it would be rejected again because of his support to the opposition at the time.

“I’m disappointed in people who think, Womba cannot proffer a bill” Rep. Womba stated. “I felt very lackadaisical, weak and disappointed in the leadership at the time who rejected my first bill”.

He furthered that the rejection of that bill discouraged him of further crafting and sponsoring a bill under the CDC regime.

“I cannot go and spend my time whole night burning candles to craft a bill when it reaches the president then he says no because I’m from the other end” he clarified.

Rep. Womba’s clarification comes in the wake of his recent submission of a bill seeking to elevate Bong County Technical College to university status, and to establish the Bong County University.

He has faced public criticism for not having sponsored any bills since his election to the legislature in 2018, But Rep. Womba says these criticisms are false.

Meanwhile, the Bong County lawmaker has expressed optimism for the full passage of his latest bill seeking to establish the Bong County University. He made these statements on Radio Gbarnga Friday via mobile.
