Tubmanburg, Bomi County: The Youths Rising Project with support from the European Union (EU) has broken ground for the construction of a Technical Vocational Education Center (TVET) at the main campus of the C.H. Dewey Public High School. ‎‎

The project cost is placed at a value of US$445000, and would also include the rehabilitation of the school’s existing structures, which is being implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).‎‎‎

Giving the overview of the project, Mdm. Chai of UNIDO, explained that the new training facility upon completion will be used to equip youths and vulnerable groups with the necessary skills essential for economic empowerment and contribute to nation building. ‎‎She disclosed that the construction project is expected to be completed by June 2026.‎‎

Also remarking, The EU Representative at the event, Mdm. Lorpu Scott underscored the importance of the project as vital to the advancement of Liberia’s education sector, from a more theoretical one to hands-on training.‎‎

She asserted that the EU is committed to supporting initiatives that has the proclivity to improve lives across Liberia, and that the project is part of Phase Two of the Youths Rising Project which is being implemented in six of Liberia’s fifteen counties.

‎‎”This facility is for you the students of Bomi County, you will be taught the necessary lessons essential for self empowerment”, she noted.‎‎

Meanwhile, Representatives of the Ministries of Youth and Sports and Education thanked the EU for its continued support toward Liberia’s development, noting that the project will lead a paradigm shift in both the education and youths development sectors.

When completed, the project is expected to build the capacity of students in the region and adequately prepared them for the job market. The event took place on Friday, November 28, 2025.‎‎
