Gbarnga, Bong County: The Concerned United Methodist Church of Liberia (CUMC) has Refuted Rumors of Supporting Same Sex Marriage

Addressing Journalists at the Opening of its 18th Annual Conference in Gbarnga on Wednesday March 19, 2025, Bishop Alexander Dolo Kerkulah; the Head of the Concerned United Methodist Church of Liberia (CUMC) stated that it is false and misleading that it supports homosexuality.

He furthered that some members of the public have misconstrued the nomenclature of the Concerned United Church with the ongoing conflicts of “Regionalization” in the United Methodist Church of Liberia.

Bishop Kerkulah added that “about six months ago, the Concerned United Methodist Church of Liberia rejected a Reunion Proposal from the United Methodist Church of Liberia”  due to its stance against the “Regionalization Policy” that has fueled major division within the UMC of Liberia.

He lamented that the Concerned United Methodist Church of Liberia is an independent Christian Denomination that believes and teaches the words of God as enshrined within the Holy Bible, citing it cannot compromise its principles with things of the World.

The CUMC Bishop averred that these speculations are mere tactics intended to distract the church from its mission of establishment with a call for those involved to desist.

He urged Christians in Liberia most especially Members of the Concerned United Methodist Church not to panic as it is dedicated to preaching the Truth Words of God.
