Monrovia, Liberia – The Government of Liberia has strongly condemned what it calls “irresponsible and inflammatory” remarks made by Bomi County Senator Edwin Snowe, who also serves as a member of the ECOWAS Parliament.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, Senator Snowe reportedly vowed to use his connections within ECOWAS to orchestrate the failure of the administration led by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.

Snowe is alleged to have said that he would “do everything possible, including using his connections in ECOWAS to make the Boakai-led government fail,” even if it means discouraging foreign direct investment and pushing Liberia into instability until he becomes President.

The government said such statements are tantamount to an attempt to undermine national stability and warned that no citizen has the right to use international platforms to advance personal political ambitions at the expense of the country’s peace and development.

Calling on regional and international organizations, particularly ECOWAS, the government urged them not to allow Senator Snowe or any other individual to use their institutions as a tool to destabilize Liberia.

“Liberia continues to remain a champion of peace, security, and economic integration within the Mano River Union (MRU), ECOWAS, African Union (AU), and the broader international community,” the statement said.

Reassuring citizens, the government affirmed its commitment to meeting the needs of the Liberian people and maintaining peace and stability in the country.

The government also called on Liberians to support the administration’s efforts to build a stable and prosperous nation.
