Margibi County District #3 Lawmaker, Hon. Ellen A. Attoh-Wreh, has concluded a daylong citizens’ engagement in Division 31 of the Firestone Rubber Plantation.

According to Rep. Attoh-Wreh, the purpose of the engagement was to express her gratitude to the residents for their unwavering support during the 2023 General Elections and to identify ways to improve their lives.

During the engagement, residents of Division 31 requested that Rep. Attoh-Wreh engage the management of Firestone Rubber Plantation to address alleged labor abuses.

The citizens, who are predominantly contractors, complained about being underpaid by the company. They also expressed concerns about the lack of access to healthcare for their children. The residents urged the lawmaker to advocate for their rights in her official capacity.

In response, Rep. Attoh-Wreh pledged her commitment to standing up for the workers’ interests. She also promised to reinvigorate the Women’s Empowerment Program in the area. According to her, this initiative will enable women to become self-sufficient and contribute to their households while their husbands wait for their monthly wages from the company.
