Margibi County: Representative Emmanuel O. Yarh has broken ground for the construction of a modern annex at Cuttington University Junior College in Kakata, a project valued at more than US$39,000 and aimed at improving the institution’s academic infrastructure.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held on the campus of the college on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. Upon completion within the next four to five months, the annex will include two classrooms, two bathrooms, and a teachers’ lounge.
Speaking at the ceremony, Representative Emmanuel O. Yarh assured the administration and students that his office would work to ensure the successful completion of the project. “My leadership will do everything right to serve our people and we will initiate this project and make sure it’s completed”, he added. He emphasized that the presence of Cuttington University in Kakata has positively impacted countless lives across Margibi County and pledged his continued commitment to serving the county through meaningful development initiatives.
“The existence of Cuttington University in Kakata has changed many lives around here, so we need to do something to encourage the to stay”.
The project was initiated by the current graduating class “Tukatuwor” of Cuttington University Junior College as part of its vision to strengthen the institution’s learning environment. Speaking on behalf of the graduating class, Class President Joshua O. Tokpah Sr. expressed profound gratitude to Representative Yarh for responding to their request and relieving them of the financial burden associated with the project.
“This project couldn’t been a success if we never had you coming in to take this financial burdens from our head and also partnering with the University”, Tokpah lamented. He described the lawmaker’s intervention as a demonstration of genuine leadership and humanitarian service, adding that the graduating class looks forward to joining the university community again for the dedication of the completed facility.
“We pray for more financial opportunity unto you so that you can be able to aid us up to the completion of our project. So that we all will once again converge at this point to do a dedication. And at that point there will be another honoring that the whole world will know that you are truly the representation of not just Margibians but also humanitarian for institutional improvement”, he said.
Also speaking at the event, Assistant Vice President Rev Father Terry Quoi, representing the administration of Cuttington University Junior College, lauded Representative Yarh for his initiative and timely response to the students’ appeal.
Father Quoi noted that the project reflects a strong partnership between the university and community stakeholders and will significantly contribute to enhancing the institution’s academic infrastructure for current and future generations of students.
