Ganta, Nimba County——The Deputy County Commander of the Professional Standard Division of the Liberia National Police (LNP), Chief Inspector Jenkins Mangou, has urged police officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and adhere to their code of conduct while performing their duties.
Inspector Mangou stated that the Professional Standard Division has begun its series of acquaintance meetings with police depots and zones across the county. The purpose of these meetings is to familiarize officers with the new team of the Professional Standard Division, LNP Nimba chapter, clarify their roles and functions, and foster cooperation between officers.
He emphasized that officers should not feel discouraged by the operations of the Professional Standard Division, as its primary goal is to ensure that police officers respect human rights, treat citizens with dignity, and provide due process.
He further explained that the division is tasked with receiving and investigating reports of police misconduct.
While the division’s members are all police officers, their role is more administrative than that of regular officers involved in day-to-day policing.Inspector Mangou also revealed plans to conduct regular training sessions, either weekly or monthly, to ensure officers are working in alignment with their code of conduct. Despite the challenges they face, he reassured that they are committed to fulfilling their duties in the county.
