Ben’s Town, Marshall City — In a desperate cry for justice and survival, Chairman Clarence Mulbah and the affected residents of Ben’s Town in Margibi County have issued a powerful plea to STAND (Solidarity and Trust for a New Day) to join their fight against what  they termed as “Devastating Operations” of Fengshou International, a Chinese-owned mining company.

Presenting the plead on behalf of Affected Residents, Chairman Clarence Mulbah narrated that for four years, since 2021, Fengshou has caused danger on the community, polluting waters with strong  chemicals that have left children sick, caused 10 to 15 miscarriages, and cracked homes.

Accoding to him, approximately 10 residents have died due to the company’s dangerous mining activities.  He termed  the mining as “Pernicious”

Chairman Clarence Mulbah revealed that despite filing lawsuits and petitions to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Ministry of Lands and Mines, and local authorities, no meaningful action has been taken.

Meanwhile,  Months back The EPA fined Fengshou and its affiliate East International UD 55,000 for violations including operating without a valid permit and damaging the Marshall wetland, even ordering its closure  until sustainable methods are approved. Yet the company’s harmful impact persists..

However, those affected residents are calling on for the immediate removal of Fengshou, stating,

“No jobs, people are dying.”
