Monrovia (October 13,2024) -Report says mass  protest has erupted during a United Methodist Church( UMC) Sunday Church Service.

According to our reporter the   protest erupted at the United Methodist Church (UMC) in New Georgia due to an attempt to replace the church’s Pastor who is an Anti-Gay Preacher. During the ceremony, tensions around LGBTQ+ inclusion in the church was sparked by members and community dwellers.

United Methodist Church (UMC) is in New Georgia a suburb of Monrovia, following reports about its stance on LGBTQ issues, specifically concerning the regionalization of homosexuality within the church.

This incident has aligns with broader tensions in the global United Methodist Church.

Over the past few years, the denomination has been grappling with its stance on LGBTQ+ inclusion, which has led to heated debates and divisions. In 2024, the United Methodist Church officially eliminated its bans on LGBTQ+ clergy and same-sex marriages, marking a significant shift.

According to an inside source the Bishop of the Church Samuel J. Quire intended to turnover new leadership to the congregation after dismissing the current pastor who spoke against gay marriage last Sunday. The Bishop action was counter-reacted by church members.

However, as per the  United Methodist Book of Discipline, the Bishop is to call for session and report to members in Liberia on discussion at the General Conference in the United States of America.

Unfortunately, since Bishop Samuel Return in May 2024, he has allegedly refused to call for session but instead in the constant act of dismissing church leaders that speak against gay marriage/ homosexuality. His action has sparked concerns amongst the congregation leading them to stand against his appearance in any of their churches.

These changes have sparked mixed reactions, with some celebrating the inclusion, while others, particularly in regions like Africa, have expressed strong opposition, leading to demonstrations in THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
