Monrovia, Liberia — The Ministry of Transport, in collaboration with the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), has officially launched an integrated digital payment system aimed at modernizing vehicle registration and driver’s license renewal processes across the country.‎

‎The new platform allows vehicle users to make payments electronically through mobile money and other automated channels, reducing long queues, improving transparency, and enhancing efficiency in revenue collection and service delivery.‎

‎Speaking at the launch ceremony in Monrovia, Transport Minister Sirleaf R. Tyler said the initiative is part of the government’s broader agenda to digitize public services and make them more accessible to citizens.‎

‎“This integrated payment system marks a major milestone in our efforts to reform the transport sector. By embracing digital solutions, we are making it easier for vehicle owners and drivers to comply with the law while also improving accountability and convenience,” Minister Tyler said.‎

Officially launching the platform, LRA Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah described the system as a critical step toward strengthening domestic revenue mobilization and promoting transparency.‎

“Today’s launch demonstrates our commitment to leveraging technology to simplify tax and non-tax payments. This platform will ensure real-time reporting, reduce leakages, and provide a seamless experience for the public in paying for vehicle registration and driver’s license renewals,” Commissioner General Jallah stated.‎

‎He  also lauded the transport sector for its contribution to the revenue generation, stating that the sector has always been one of the major contributors to the government.‎

‎Representatives of mobile network operators, Lonestar Cell MTN and Orange Liberia, whose mobile money platforms are integrated into the system, also welcomed the initiative, pledging technical support and reliable service delivery.‎

“We are proud to partner with the government on this important digital transformation. Our mobile money platform will provide motorists with a secure, fast, and convenient way to make payments anytime, anywhere,” a representative of the operators said. ‎‎

The integrated system is expected to be rolled out nationwide, with service centers and mobile money agents sensitized to guide users on how to access and utilize the platform. The initiative is expected to significantly cut processing time, curb fraud, and improve overall efficiency in the transport and revenue sectors.
