Gbarnga, Bong – A staggering number of Lawyers practicing within the Bong County Bar Association have been summoned to appear before the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court in Gbarnga on Monday, February 17, 2025.

Speaking on Monday, February 10, 2025 at the February A.D. Term of Court Opening, the Resident Judge of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court in Gbarnga, His Honor, Judge Boimah Kontoh lamented that the act to deliberately shunned the Court’s opening contravene the Court’s Rules for all Lawyers of the Bong County Bar Association.

Judge Boimah Kontoe stated that “The lawyers action violates the rule of court and Chapter 3.3.8 of the New Judicial Law of Liberia, which provides that the judge is the head of the court, and that lawyers can be punished for being disrespectful to the authority of the court”

Judge Kontoe then instructed the Clerk of the Court to summon the 33 lawyers and ensure that they appear before the Court on Monday February 17, 2025 to give reasons for their absence.

Judge Kontoe furthers that a fine of not less than $100 United States Dollars will be placed on violators who deliberately stayed off the Court’s openings citing that it would deter others from doing same.

It can be recalled that during the opening of the August AD 2024 court opening, Judge Boimah Kontoe issued a writ of summons against more than 40 members of the local bar association for shunning the opening of COurt.
