In response to allegations by Abraham Godsent Wheon, widely known as a propagandist of Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Solidarity and Trust for a New Day (STAND) has issued a strong rebuttal condemning his claims as “misleading and unfounded.” .
Wheon’s assertions implied that STAND is conspiring with Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah to unseat House Speaker J. Fonati Koffa—a claim STAND deems baseless and politically charged and maliciously erroneous.
In a statement issued Friday in Monrovia, STAND clarified its position as strictly non-political civil society organization dedicated to justice, accountability, and democratic governance. “Our sole mission is to advocate for the rights and welfare of Liberians, not to engage in political schemes,” the statement reads.
STAND further denounced Wheon’s insinuations, emphasizing that any claim suggesting its Chairman traveled or arranged meetings with House representatives to influence political decisions is a fabrication born purely from imagination. “Such rumors undermine the integrity of our organization and the dedicated work of our members,” STAND emphasized.
The organization highlighted that its current focus is on community outreach and fostering connections with Liberians following the recent launch of its national headquarters. STAND’s leadership and program committee are actively working on initiatives to express gratitude to community members who support their mission to promote justice and uphold democratic values across Liberia.
“We urge Mr. Wheon and others to refrain from spreading unfounded rumors,” STAND stated, adding that it remains resolutely non-political and committed to the people and principles of Liberia. The organization asserted by encouraging all Liberians to focus on building a united and accountable nation, free from division and unwarranted propaganda.
The Civil Society Group intimated that the CDC propagandist risks Wheon lawsuits if he continues his political propaganda against the rights group.
