Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe has criticized the Liberian Senate, calling it an “extension of the Executive Branch” and accusing it of failing to do its job. He also blamed President Joseph Boakai’s administration for the ongoing crisis in the House of Representatives.

Speaking on Spoon Talk, Senator Snowe said the Senate is weak and not acting independently. He pointed to the deadlock in the House as an example of poor leadership and said the government is being slowed down by too many people trying to control things.

“There are too many cooks in the kitchen,” he said, adding that overlapping roles and unclear leadership are blocking progress.

Senator Snowe also dismissed recent efforts by ECOWAS to resolve the crisis, saying the delegation’s visit made no difference. He revealed that talks with President Boakai before the visit led to no clear decisions, making the situation worse.

Despite the controversy, Snowe declared embattled Speaker J. Fornati Koffa as the rightful leader of the House of Representatives. He urged lawmakers to work together to find solutions instead of taking actions that deepen divisions.
