Sinoe County, Liberia – In a decisive operation against the illegal drug trade, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Sinoe County Detachment, has arrested four individuals for narcotics possession. The suspects include three Liberian nationals and one Nigerian, all of whom have been forwarded to court for prosecution.

The operation, spearheaded by Chief of Operations Special Agent Daniel Songor, was conducted following a court-issued search and seizure warrant. The LDEA discovered substantial quantities of illegal substances across multiple locations in Sinoe County.

Details of the Arrests

The first arrest involved Mrs. Agatha Kojoe, 36, apprehended in Gbliayee with half a plastic bag of unlicensed marijuana. In a separate operation, Mr. Verster Whylie, 66, was also caught with half a plastic bag of unlicensed marijuana.

In Bardueh Town, Mr. Lewis Ponney, 66, was detained after authorities found 88 wraps of kush, half a plate of high-grade unlicensed marijuana, and additional narcotics. The street value of the drugs seized from the three Liberian suspects is estimated at $394 USD (LRD 75,000).

In Bailabo Greek, Mr. Maduka Mozia, a Nigerian national of the Igbo tribe, was found in possession of 18.5 grams of unlicensed kush, 141 grams of heroin, and 100 processors of unidentified substances. The estimated street value of the drugs seized from Mozia is $5,285 USD (LRD 1,004,150).

LDEA’s Statement and Community Call

Special Agent Milton Kloh Howard, County Commander of the LDEA, commended his team and Juarzon District Commander Mr. Gabriel K. Myenabo for their tireless efforts to combat drug trafficking in Sinoe County.

“These arrests and drug seizures demonstrate our commitment to cracking down on the illegal drug trade,” Commander Howard stated. “We remain dedicated to ensuring that Sinoe County remains safe and drug-free.”

Commander Howard also urged residents to report suspicious activities, emphasizing the critical role of community involvement in tackling Liberia’s growing drug problem.

This operation marks a significant milestone in the LDEA’s broader campaign against illegal drug proliferation in Liberia. The agency pledged to intensify its efforts to dismantle drug networks and protect citizens’ well-being.
