Kakata: Margibi County Senator James Emmanuel Nuquay has disclosed plans to begin releasing a six-year performance report, weeks after intense public pressure from a DN-News’ publication which highlighted the Senator’s refusal to produce a formal public accountability.
In a statement issued on June 11, 2026, the Senator’s office disclosed that the publication process will commence this week and will be released in phases, detailing achievements, interventions, and development initiatives undertaken during his tenure in public service.
According to the statement, the report will outline educational support provided to more than 521 students through scholarship opportunities ranging from high school education across Margibi County’s five districts to graduate studies abroad.
The senator’s office also pointed to the drilling of nearly 100 community wells across the county through the acquisition of a drilling rig, support to schools through infrastructure and renovation projects, and vocational training opportunities for 178 young people at the Gbaisue Driving and Life Skills School. Additionally, Senator Nuquay credited one of his communications to the Liberian Senate with helping expose fraudulent petroleum pricing practices, which he believes contributed to the allocation of approximately US$16.5 million annually in road funding for Liberia’s counties.
The announcement follows a May 18, 2026 publication by DN-News Liberia, which reported that Senator Nuquay had not publicly presented a formal legislative performance report since March 30, 2023. The publication raised concerns among some citizens and governance advocates regarding transparency and accountability. While Liberian law does not expressly require lawmakers to publish annual performance reports, public accountability reporting is widely regarded as an important democratic practice that enables citizens to assess the performance, legislative activities, and development advocacy of their elected representatives.
The release of the report is expected to provide constituents with an opportunity to evaluate Senator Nuquay’s performance in office and assess the impact of projects and initiatives undertaken during his six years of service.
