The Liberia Football Association (LFA), in partnership with
FIFA’s Forward program, has dedicated a FIFA-standard
sports facility in Gompa, Nimba County, as part of its
ongoing infrastructure development efforts.
The Gompa project includes floodlights, an underground
sprinkler/irrigation system, and an inner security fence.
Additional facilities include a roofed spectator stand and
artificial turf built to FIFA-approved standards.
Nimba County Superintendent Madam Kou Meapeh Gono
expressed that the dedication of the facility opens doors
to dreams and new possibilities, a future where local
talents can be nurtured. She also appealed to the LFA and
its partners to replicate similar initiatives across Nimba
County.
LFA President Mustapha Raji and Minister of Youth and
Sports Clir. J. Cole Bangalu emphasized that the facility
will boost grassroots sports development and create
economic and social opportunities for the locals. They
further called for increased budgetary support to
construct similar pitches across the country.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Richard Koon
commended FIFA for investing in local sports and assured
the LFA of the government’s continued support.
The groundbreaking for the stadium refurbishment was
conducted earlier in November 2024 under the leadership
of LFA President Raji.
