The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has announced the official dedication of newly decentralized Passport Application Centers in Bong and Grand Gedeh Counties.

The dedication ceremonies are expected to be held early next week as part of the national calendar marking Liberia’s 178th Independence Anniversary.

This development comes under the leadership of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, whose drive for improved public service delivery and government outreach continues to shape key reforms.

The decentralization of passport services is considered a significant stride in bringing government closer to the people, particularly those living in remote areas.

For years, citizens outside Monrovia faced challenges in obtaining passports due to travel expenses and long waiting periods caused by centralized operations.

The launch of these centers in Bong and Grand Gedeh Counties is aimed at easing those burdens and improving access to essential documentation.

According to Foreign Minister Nyanti, the newly opened facilities are more than just administrative buildings , adding that they symbolize a shift toward inclusion, equity, and fulfillment of government promises to decentralize public services.

She described the initiative as a proud moment for the Ministry and a key milestone in the government’s broader decentralization agenda.

The ceremonies are expected to attract local government officials, traditional leaders, and community members.

The Ministry has assured citizens that the centers are fully operational, equipped with the necessary technology and trained staff to ensure efficient passport processing.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs however reiterated its dedication to citizen-centered governance and ensuring that services once limited to Monrovia are now available throughout Liberia.
