Monrovia– Emmett Stages Glassco, the former captain of Liberia’s U-17 men’s national team, has expressed strong support for interim coach Thomas Kojo to be given a full-time contract to manage the national football team.

Glassco, who remains a prominent figure in Liberian football, praised Kojo’s leadership and coaching abilities, attributing them to the team’s first home win in more than five years. Last Wednesday, the Lone Star secured a 1-0 victory against Togo at the Samuel K Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville, marking their first home win since defeating Chad 1-0 in 2019.

“Thomas Kojo has demonstrated exceptional capability and dedication in his role as interim coach,” Glassco stated. “His understanding of the game and ability to inspire the players have been evident in our recent matches.”

Kojo, who took over as interim coach a month ago, has guided the national team through challenging fixtures, earning respect and admiration from both players and fans. Under his stewardship, the team has shown remarkable improvement, igniting hope and excitement among Liberian football supporters. In his initial three weeks in charge, Kojo led the Lone Stars to two wins, a draw, and only one defeat, showcasing his potential to elevate the team further.

Glassco, now the Senior Female Professional president, emphasized the importance of stability and continuity for the team’s progress. “We need someone who understands the team’s dynamics and has already built a rapport with the players,” Glassco emphasized. “Thomas Kojo is the right person for this job, and he deserves the opportunity to lead the team permanently.”
