MONROVIA – Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, has firmly denied allegations linking her to the country’s ongoing cocaine investigation, describing the claims as false and a deliberate attempt to undermine the government’s efforts to combat drug trafficking.
Speaking at the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing, Nyanti revealed that the White House Situation Room contacted her shortly after authorities announced the seizure of drugs valued at about US$317 million. She said the discussion centered on the investigation and has since resulted in increased U.S. support for Liberia’s efforts to uncover those responsible.
The Foreign Minister said the allegations against her are “unprofessional, unpatriotic, unethical, unacceptable, misleading, and entirely false,” insisting that they are intended to weaken public confidence in the investigation.
Nyanti argued that the accusations are part of a broader campaign to damage Liberia’s restored international credibility and distract from the country’s progress in strengthening diplomatic relations and international cooperation.
She maintained that the government’s focus remains on ensuring a credible and transparent investigation, adding that Liberia continues to receive the support of international partners in its fight against transnational drug trafficking.
Her comments come amid an ongoing investigation into one of Liberia’s largest cocaine seizures, a case that has generated widespread public debate and allegations involving senior government officials, which authorities have repeatedly denied.
