Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Commission has denied reports circulating on social media, alleging that employees were dismissed and suspended based on their political affiliations.
The viral communication, which has sparked heated discussions, claims that several employees were terminated and suspended after being linked to opposing Political Parties.
Speaking on behalf of the WASH Commission, the Director of Communications, Eddie Harmon, labeled the internal memo circulating online as “false and misleading.” Harmon clarified that although some employees had been questioned by the Civil Service Agency (CSA) regarding their employment status, the WASH Commission did not issue the controversial memo.
Harmon went on to stress that the memo, which allegedly bore the signature of WASH Commission CEO George Yarngo, did not originate from the Commission. “The memo being shared is not only fake but aimed at creating confusion and mistrust,” Harmon emphasized.
The alleged memo claimed that CEO Yarngo had authorized the dismissal of staff members with political affiliations that conflicted with the government’s agenda.
However, WASH Commission officials insist that no such directive was given, and the matter is now under investigation
