Cairo, Egypt – The Chief Executive Officer of DN-News Liberia, Mr. Trokon G. Flahnma, has successfully completed a Certificate in Digital Marketing and International Communication program in Cairo, Egypt. The training was organized by the Supreme Council for Media Regulation of Egypt, in collaboration with the Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT).

The two-week intensive program brought together 30 journalists from across several English-speaking African countries, including Liberia, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Malawi, Somalia, Mauritius, and Tanzania. It aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of digital marketing strategies, global communication practices, and the evolving role of media in international relations.

A Transformative Experience Upon his return to Liberia, Mr. Flahnma expressed heartfelt gratitude to both the Egyptian and Liberian Governments for the opportunity, describing the training as “a transformative experience that blended learning, laughter, cultural exchange, and discovery.”

“It was more than a training; it was an experience that awakened my curiosity, broadened my horizons, and reminded me of how powerful knowledge can be when shared across borders,” said Flahnma.

He praised the Egyptian people for their warm hospitality and highlighted memorable visits to the Pyramids of Giza, ancient temples, and the modern city of New Cairo, calling them symbols of innovation, resilience, and visionary leadership.

“From the bustling streets of Cairo to the serene Nile Cruises, every moment was filled with inspiration. I am convinced that Liberia, too, can embrace such models of progress and creativity,” he added.

A Testament to Liberia–Egypt Partnership
The training forms part of a longstanding partnership between Liberia and Egypt, dating back to 1957, when both nations established diplomatic relations. Over the years, the cooperation has deepened through various Memoranda of Understanding in the areas of media, communication, and diplomacy.

Flahnma commended Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah and his team at MICAT for extending the training opportunity to independent media practitioners a move he described as “commendable and historic.”
“This year’s cohort is distinct because, for the first time, independent journalists were included alongside public information officers. This inclusive approach to capacity-building deserves recognition,”he said.

He also extended profound appreciation to the Liberian Embassy in Egypt, particularly Ambassador Fahnbulleh and his staff, for their “unwavering support, guidance, and hospitality” throughout the delegation’s stay. A Call for National Media Support In his remarks, Mr. Flahnma used the occasion to appeal to the Government of Liberia to strengthen support for the local media through training, innovation grants, and sustainability initiatives. He cited the United Kingdom’s 2020 intervention, which provided millions in funding for local journalism and community radio support, as a model worth emulating.

“We are therefore appealing to the Government of Liberia to consider similar support mechanisms for journalists and media institutions, particularly in areas of training, innovation, and sustainability,” he urged.
“If not this government, then who? If not now, then when?”Renewed Commitment..

Flahnma reaffirmed his commitment to applying the knowledge gained to strengthen journalism and digital communication in Liberia.

He used the medium to congratulated members of the MICAT Reporters Network for their recent elections and called for continued collaboration among journalists to uphold professionalism and ethical reporting.

“This journey has been enlightening a rare chance to learn, connect, and grow in one of the most historically rich countries in the world. I return home with gratitude, new ideas, and a renewed commitment to serve,” he concluded.
