Former Civil Service Agency Deputy Director-General Darlington Smith has resurfaced in government, taking on a new role within the Ministry of Youth and Sports days after his resignation.
Making the disclosure in Tappita on Tuesday, Youth and Sports Minister Cornelia Kruah explained that Smith will lead efforts to advance the ministry’s decentralization agenda.
Minister Kruah furthered that Smith will play a central role in designing a national decentralization plan for youth development, drawing from concerns and challenges raised by young people during the ministry’s nationwide county tour.
The move aims to ensure equitable access to youth programs and opportunities across the country. Smith’s appointment comes barely a week after his resignation from the Civil Service Agency, where he served as Deputy Director-General. His departure was reportedly linked to concerns over a strained working relationship with Director-General Josiah Joekai.
However, Minister Kruah is convinced that Smith’s assignment will be critical to strengthening decentralization efforts, ensuring that youth development initiatives are directed to local needs.
With over 10 years in public administration, Smith brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role with a track record of delivering projects within the constraints of scope.
