‎‎Paynesville: The Youth Alliance for Responsible Governance has condemned the House of Representatives bill passed on December 9, 2025, seeking to create 14 additional electoral Districts. The Bill seeks to expand the chamber from 73 to 87 seats.‎

The group demands the Liberian Senate should reject concurrence, labeling the move unconstitutional, fiscally irresponsible, and undemocratic.‎

‎Speaking to reporters today, Youth Alliance spokesperson David Jameson Chea said the bill violates Article 80(e) of the 1986 Constitution. That provision assigns reapportionment solely to the National Elections Commission (NEC) immediately after a national census projected for 2032‎not the Legislature.‎

‎“Lawmakers are sworn custodians of the law, yet they disregard separation of powers,” The Spokesman noted.‎

‎He added that the proposal lacks public consultation or national consensus. “More lawmakers won’t deliver adequate representation; we need jobs and investment.”He added.
