Liberia’s Former Finance Minister Samuel Tweah has blamed the CDC-led Government’s failure to prosecute alleged former Officials of Madam Sirleaf’s Government on the departure of UNMIL.

Tweah told a joint Radio Interview in Monrovia that the CDC Government did not want to cause chaos due to the fact that they were taking power right after the War.

It is known that the CDC was elected in 2017, about 14 years after the last gun was fired in Liberia due to the Accra Peace Accord. The first Government to be democratically elected after the Civil War was the Unity Party Government headed by Africa’s first Female President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

However, Tweah argued that officials of the CDC Government including the President didn’t want to be blamed for witch hunt which could have automatically destabilized the Country.

Just like Madam Sirleaf who publicly said one of the Challenges of Fighting Corruption is the interrelated nature of our society, Weah too made a similar statement.

Tweah and others are standing trial for alleged Corruption surrounding a 6 Million United States Dollars that was allegedly removed from the Financial Intelligence Agency account under questioning circumstances.
