Paynesville (October 24,2024)- The Majority bloc of the House of Representatives opting to depose the Speaker has vehemently rejected allegations of budget manipulation, and bribery levied by the Speaker against them.
In a late evening press conference Wednesday, renegade Lawmakers described the Speaker’s accusations as a means of seeking public sentiment while neglecting the real reason they are sorting to have him removed.
Recently the Embattled House Speaker J. Fonati Koffa disclosed on a radio show The Spoon Talk that the hidden reason for the coup against him is his refusal to allow members to conduct business as usual especially manipulating the budget and extorting money from the Executive.
“This same cartel will carry the budget to Boulevard Palace Hotel Room 1026 to adjust all the numbers,” said House Speaker Fonati Koffa, making a shocking revelation about systemic corruption and public abuse of state resources within the House of Representatives.
Reading the statement on behalf of the renegade Lawmakers, Representative Nyahn Flomo of District # 1 Nimba County, demanded the Speaker to provide all evidence of all his accusations against.
“We the members of the House of Representatives urge Hon. J. Fonati Koffa to bring forth verifiable facts and evidence to support his claims, rather than engaging in reckless rhetoric on public platforms. His appearance on Spoon TV was riddled with falsehoods that tarnish the reputation of the House of Representatives and the government of Liberia. His use of invectives on public radio further demonstrates an acute lack of leadership and decorum, undermining the dignity of the office he holds. Such behavior is unbecoming of a leader entrusted with the responsibility of guiding the nation’s legislative body, and it reflects a troubling disregard for the standards of professionalism and accountability that Liberians expect from their elected officials”.. They stated.
Representative Flomo used the press conference to reaffirm the group’s commitment to removing the Speaker describing him as a certified liar as they are opting to get 49 Lawmakers on their side.
Speaker Koffa has since ruled out the possibility for him to resign as Speaker due to pressure.
