As the Political Battle to unseat House Speaker Fonati Koffa intensifies, the Liberian Senate has constituted a five-member committee to mediate between rival factions of the House of Representatives.
Those appointed to the committee include former Pro-Tempore and now Grand Bassa County Senator Gbehzohngar Findley as Chairman, Willington Geevon Smith of River Cess County, Thomas Yaya Nimely of Grand Gedeh County, Gbleh Bo Brown of Maryland County, and Dabah Varpilah of Grand Cape Mount County.
The Senate made this decision at a consultative meeting following Thursday’s session of the body.
The committee is tasked with mediating between both parties and advancing a way forward.
In recent days, members of the House of Representatives have been divided over the removal of Speaker Fonati Koffa.
The anti-Koffa bloc has 43 Representatives, while Koffa’s faction holds 30 Representatives, which is below the required number to hold a sitting
