Monrovia, Liberia — The National Identification Registry (NIR) has announced expanded services and extended hours to accommodate the increased demand for national identity cards following President Boakai’s Executive Order #147. This order designates the National or Citizens ID Card as the primary identification required to access all public and private services throughout Liberia.

In a public service announcement, the NIR informed citizens and foreign residents that enrollment, renewal of expired cards, and replacement of damaged or spoiled national ID cards are now available at multiple centers across Montserrado County, including:

Isaac Dugbe Memorial Hall, Tweh Farm Gardnersville Town Hall, Barnersville Road Gogbochop Market, PaynesvilleWaterside General Market Building, UL Fendell Campus and Lonestar MTN offices at Broad Street. Others include Red Light, and Congo Town Orange Head Office, Capital Bye-pass and Corporate Office, 16th St. Sinkor, SKD Sports Complex, Paynesville EJS Ministerial Complex, Congo Town St. Joseph Catholic Hospital, and Congo Town NIR Head Office,

Additionally, the management of The National Identification Registry announced that, enrollment centers are operational at County Service Centers in all capital cities nationwide. Mobile teams are also available to assist with card renewals, replacements, and first-time enrollments.

To manage the overwhelming turnout, the NIR has extended its operating hours from the previous 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. scheduled to 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. This adjustment aims to reduce wait times and ensure efficient service delivery.

Meanwhile, they noted that the cost for obtaining a national ID card is US$5 or the Liberian dollar equivalent. Importantly, all payments must be made via Lonestar MTN Mobile Money while emphasizing that no cash payments are accepted.

Applicants are advised to deposit funds into their mobile money accounts before visiting any registration center. Each center has a unique mobile money number for payment processing.

However, this move underscores the government commitment to strengthening national identity management and streamlining access to services. The National ID Card will now serve as the essential document for identification in all government and private sector transactions.
