Sanniquellie, Nimba County – Daniel Tokpa, a 50-year-old defendant, has pleaded guilty to charges of Attempted Murder and Aggravated Assault to Commit Murder.

The case comes from the brutal incident on April 7, 2024, when Tokpa heinously cut off the left hand of Jessica David in the Jacob community in Ganta City, Nimba county.

Daniel Tokpah, who is a former instructor at Nimba University. His action reportedly provoked outrage among residents, resulting in an angry mob setting fire to two of his buildings in Ganta City.

Appearing before the 8th Judicial Circuit Court in Sanniquellie Tuesday (November 19, 2024) Tokpa, who had been in custody for seven months awaiting trial, admitted his guilt as the indictment was formally read.

During the proceedings, the presiding judge followed legal protocols, asking the defendant how he wished to plead. In a clear and remorseful tone, Tokpa pleaded “guilty” and appealed for forgiveness from both the court and his victim.

Meanwhile, the court will now deliberate on sentencing, with justice for Jessica David at the forefront of the proceedings.
