The Ministry of Education has announced that plans are underway for the National School Census.
According to Dr. Samuel Toe, Deputy Education Minister for Planning, Research, and Development, the ministry has not conducted a school census in the past two years, a gap he says has hindered educational progress in Liberia.
Dr. Toe noted that the 2024 school census will enable the ministry to effectively plan, invest in, and monitor the educational system, as it will provide comprehensive data on Technical and Vocational Education Training.
He also revealed that the official launch of the census is scheduled for Friday, November 1, 2024, with the project estimated to cost 1.5 million U.S. dollars.
Meanwhile, Dr. Toe is urging educational stakeholders to support the ministry in implementing the census, emphasizing that the census will not only benefit the Ministry of Education but also the entire nation by offering broad-based statistics on educational outcomes across Liberia.
